Nexium (esomeprazole) is an anti-acid drug which is prescribed to treat the following symptoms or conditions: gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD or heartburn; acid reflux), ulcers and erosive esophagitis.
This drug works by reducing the production of acid in the stomach and eliminating the symptoms of heart burn and acid reflux.

Only ever take this prescription drug as directed to by your doctor or a pharmacist. Take each tablet with a full glass of water and avoid crushing or breaking the tablets. If you accidentally miss a dose take it as soon as you can and keep taking your other doses as scheduled.
In order to avoid any drug interactions or allergic reactions from occurring it is very important that you tell your physician about ALL of the drugs you are currently taking. Women that are pregnant or who are currently nursing may not be able to take this drug, as well as those who suffer from liver disease or those who are taking drugs that contain digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral), or iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, and Femiron).
